Last year they had a ton of tournaments and were really busy. Status of Online Poker http://www.heritagepoker.org/article.php?story=20110419013641259 http://www.heritagepoker.org/article.php?story=20110419013641259 Tue, 19 Apr 2011 01:36:41 -0500 http://www.heritagepoker.org/article.php?story=20110419013641259#comments Admin Online Poker Info As you probably have heard by now you can no longer play online poker on Pokerstars or Full Tilt. Here is what is happening.

The Dept of Justice from NY, which has always said poker is illegal despite courts which told then it isn't filed charges against the poker sites for violating the law. They claim poker is illegal but that's just the side issue. Legal experts believe the DOJ can't prove this and it will be dismissed.

However when the law passed about banks being liable for processing gambling transactions most banks stopped dealing with online poker because it was a gray area. This made getting money in and out of the poker sites hard. Somewhere along the line Pokerstars and Full Tilt dealt with a middle man.

This guy worked with a bank in Utah which agreed to handle the flow of money in and out of the sites. The problem is that the bank broke the law by avoiding federal laws about reporting transactions. Then this middle man stole 100 million from the poker sites by skimming money from them. When this guy landed in the us one day Pokerstars and Full Tilt told the Feds he was here and that he stole money. He was arrested. He then flipped on the sites and told the Feds they were breaking banking laws working with this
Utah bank. So the big issue is that the online sites are charged with bank fraud and it appears there is a strong case for this.

The sites won't be back in the us until there is some sort of federal law legalizing online poker. This will probably be a couple years at least. Most people believe that any money still on the sites is safe. However it might be a while before you can withdraw because if the banking issues. It has been reported that player funds have been held in separate accounts by the major sites so the money is there right now.

You can probably expect people to flock back to casinos for live games. Higher limit games suffered a big decline due to online poker. With no other place to go all the online players will head to casinos to play live poker if they wish to play at all. The WSOP will probably take a hit this year for attendance. Estimates are that the Main Event which has had 9k people last year will have only 4-6k players.

This page has a lot of good solid information about what is going on right now:

http://jaredtendlerpoker.com/blog/some-solid-sources-about-blackfriday/ Player Milestone http://www.heritagepoker.org/article.php?story=20110327124223557 http://www.heritagepoker.org/article.php?story=20110327124223557 Sun, 27 Mar 2011 12:42:23 -0500 http://www.heritagepoker.org/article.php?story=20110327124223557#comments Admin General News We at Heritage Poker have just passed a milestone. They are not accepting delivery or delaying emails. So you might be missing out on our emails and invites to tournaments. I have contacted them but they have not gotten back to me. No one else is blocking emails so if you use someone other than Yahoo you are fine.

I have checked and we are not listed in any known reliable spam lists or filters, so this is an isolated problem with Yahoo. Hopefully they will respond to me, however, if you do use Yahoo you might want to consider migrating to Google Mail (gmail) if you want to stay on our mailing list and receive emails in the near future.
